The experience will begin in Pasaia, the beautiful natural bay where Albaola is located. On both sides of the bay we have the small fishing villages of San Juan and San Pedro, and it is this great fishing tradition that you will discover little by little as you visit the bowels of the Faktoria Maritima Albaola.

The Faktoria is a unique place where artisanal maritime technology is recovered and valued, with the construction of historical boats as its main activity. One of the vessels they are working on is the Nao San Juan. This vessel, built in Pasaia in 1563, is an example of the first transoceanic cargo ships that sailed from the Basque Country to Newfoundland. The Nao San Juan was discovered in 1978 on the seabed of Red Bay, Canada; and after studying it in depth and creating the plans, Albaola began the construction of an exact replica of this boat.

The visit to Albaola lasts 1 hour, in which you will have the opportunity to discover all the details of the discovery of the Nao San Juan, the close relationship that the Basque whalers and cider had, you will also visit the shipyard where they work with different traditional boat projects; and of course, you will be able to see up close and live how the carpenters work on the exact replica of the Nao San Juan.

The visit will begin in the family farm, with a short introduction to the family that owns it and the origin of the cider house. After getting to know the family more closely, we will go to the apple orchard to discover the different varieties of cider apples they use, then we will go to the production area to learn about the process to obtain our liquid gold, and we will finish the visit in the cellar, in front of the kupelak. And of course, during the visit we will taste the best ciders in the house.
