Every year the txotx season arrives in the Basque Country, the season to go to the cider houses to taste the new ciders of the year. There are many of you who go to the local cider houses every year between January and May or even in summer, to enjoy the best ciders and the excellent gastronomy that the cider cellars offer.

However, there are many questions that arise around Basque cider and its way of consumption: what varieties of apple are used? How long does cider take to ferment? Why is it consumed directly from the barrels? Why do we shout “txotx” when doing so? How many types of cider are there in the Basque Country? LONG VISIT WITH TASTING IN A CIDER CELLAR

Discover with our guide all the secrets of this ancient drink closely linked to the Basque territory, its culture and its gastronomy. This experience lasts approximately 1 hour, in which you will have the opportunity to get to know the owner family more closely and everything about their way of life.

During the course of the visit, we will discover the farmhouse, the apple orchard, the production area and the cellar. You will follow the cider making process, from the apple tree to the kupela, and of course, while you discover all the secrets of the house, we will do a small guided tasting of the family's best ciders/musts. SHORT VISIT WITH LUNCH IN A CIDER CELLAR FOR GROUPS

This short visit to the cider house is ideal for groups of 10 or more people. It is a visit and tasting lasting about 30 minutes, which you can do with your friends, co-workers or family. Before lunch, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Basque cider culture and learn about the different aspects of cider. Above all, you will have the opportunity to get to know in depth the family that owns the cider house, the history of it and its farmhouse, and discover the secrets cidermaking.

SHORT VISITA AND MEAL IN A BASQUE CIDER HOUSE

LONG VISIT WITH TASTING AND LUNCH IN A CIDER CELLAR

Our guide will meet you at the cider cellar for a 1-hour tour of the facilities. The visit will begin in the family farm, with a short introduction to the family that owns it and the origin of the cider house. After getting to know the family more closely, we will go to the apple orchard to discover the different varieties of cider apple they use, then we will go to the production area to learn about the process to obtain our liquid gold, and we will finish the visit in the cellar, in front to the kupelas. And of course, during the visit we will taste the best ciders in the house.

At the end, you will sit down to enjoy the traditional cider house menu: cod omelette, fried cod with peppers and onion, T-bone steak, Idiazabal cheese, quince and walnuts. And all this while you taste the delicious cider, directly from the barrels and in bottles. We are waiting for you with open arms!

We will pick you up in Donostia and take you to one of the best local cider houses for an experience you will not forget.

You will arrive at the cider cellar where, accompanied by a professional guide, you will visit every corner of the house. The visit will begin outside the cider house, in front of the family farm. Here, we will introduce you to the family, and after a short introduction to the family and the origin of the cellar, we will go to the apple orchard, the production area and the cellars.

While we discover all the secrets of Basque cider-making and the cellar, we will taste different ciders, in bottles and directly from the kupelas. At the end of the visit, you will have the necessary free time to enjoy a traditional cider house meal: cod omelette, fried cod with peppers, T-bone steak, Idiazabal cheese, quince and walnuts. And all this while you taste the cider directly from the barrels and in the bottles.
