GUIDED TOUR AND CIDER HOUSE MENU TRANSPORT INCLUDED

Experience the ‘Txotx!’ ritual, taste natural Basque cider and take a trip back to our origins!

Would you like to enjoy a cider house but you don’t know how to get to one? This tour is the solution. We will pick you up in San Sebastian so that you can learn, with the help of our guide, the secrets of this thousand-year-old drink very closely linked to the Basque Country and its culture and gastronomy. You will visit the apple orchards, the farmhouse presses/stores, the cider-making areas, the cellars and, naturally, you taste natural home-made cider as we Basques make it: in the bottle and through the ritual called "Txotx". Afterwards, we will return to San Sebastian so you can carry on enjoying our land.

¡Txoootx! is a call to taste Natural Cider directly from the barrels while you enjoy a Traditional Cider House Menu. Through the Ritual of Txotx you will taste cider from different barrels in the cellars of our cider houses while you enjoy a traditional cider house menu.

The Geopark of the Basque Coaststands between the Bay of Biscay and the Basque mountainsinland. You will enjoy a unique landscape with striking rock formations, cliffs and sandy beaches where episodes of the series “Game of Thrones” has been shot.

We leave San Sebastian for Zumaia to see one of the most beautiful features of our coast: the Flysch rock formations. You will be able to see the spectacular Geopark of the Basque Coast from a new and not very well-known angle. The fresh sea air blends with the aromas of our product -cider- accompanied by a pintxo prepared from locally-grown produce together with a nice glass of Designation of Origin Basque cider.

The trip continues through the landscape until we reach the Cider House. You will get to know the family that runs it and the steps required to make Basque cider will be explained. You will then taste the product, first in the bottle and then sitting down to a traditional cider house menu. We will later return to San Sebastian so that you can continue to enjoy our land.

LOCAL MARKET AND CIDER TOUR

A route to get to know one of the best-known markets in our area first-hand: the one in Ordizia. You can taste or buy produce and get to know other local products in a visit to the Historic Quarter of Ordizia.

Even today, the Basque caserío (farmhouse) is still the main feature of our cultural landscape. It is the place where the food the baserritarras take to the town of Ordizia for sale every week is produced… every Wednesday since time immemorial. Fresh, seasonal products, grown with the care only they know how to take. We will taste a pintxo made from local produce together with a nice glass of cider, and then continue on our way to the Cider House.

You will get to know the family that runs it and the steps required to make Basque cider will be explained. You will then taste the product, first in the bottle and then sitting down to a traditional cider house menu. We will later return to San Sebastian so that you can continue to enjoy our land.
